We've collaborated with Fr Seelan at St Oswald's Church, and it's been agreed that any donations we receive will be shared between Sue Ryder and Music education at Oblates of St Joseph, Nigeria Province.
Just about everyone will know of Sue Ryder, and in particular their hospice at Thorpe Hall, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. I'm pretty sure no one will have heard of the Oblates Of St. Joseph. They are a Catholic community with parishes in both Lagos and rural Nigeria. There are also other oblate communities around the world. The Nigerian community we are supporting teaches local children, both boys and girls, literacy and numeracy. Some Brothers are involved in teaching youngsters to read music, play instruments and sing. They are lead by Brother Franklin. Many children are extremely poor and disadvantaged. Whatever we raise will be used to help develope all aspects of music education.
